Hailstones the size of golf balls – 7th & 8th June 1996

Friday 7th It’s stormy! You know, thunder and lightning! I’m scared and excited at the same time! Or I was. Now I’m on my own I am just plain scared. What if the electricity goes off or lightning hits the tree outside my bedroom and it falls on me? What if, what if, what if? [WTF, WTF, WTF?]

In the south, the weather man said that there have been hailstones the size of golf balls and my Dad said he experienced that when he was little. Up north and around here there has been rain so heavy that you can’t see!

People from other countries are supposed to joke that the British always talk about the weather. It’s not surprising considering I’ve just taken up 2 pages writing about it!

I didn’t go to orchestra today because I didn’t want to so I said I had a sore throat. Apparently Dougie’s going next week so I might go too! Bye!

Saturday 8th It’s pretty warm today so for the first time this year I wore shorts. Abby and I have mostly been riding out bikes up and down, trying to persuade Mum and Dad to come with us tomorrow. It would do them good because they hardly do any exercise. Dad just climbs around scaffoldingand Mum walks around classrooms all day. [There was a wee bit more to both their jobs than that.] Then they complain that they’re fat. Well, Mum does. (She’s not though.) She went to Keep Fit for one hour a week for about 3 weeks then dropped out because she couldn’t be bothered! [I’d  have been so disappointed in Future Me. I am yet to set foot in a gym.]

Mum just came in to my room and told me I’m pretty. If I didn’t have spots and a stupid fringe, maybe. Mum also told me that she wished she was as slim as me and that I have lovely shaped legs! This may sound vain [it defo will then] but I am pretty slim compared to some of my friends! Some people try to be thin but I think that’s daft because you are what you are! [This morning, I am 68% Jaffa Cake.] Bye!
